Konnichiwa Japan!!!

So I touched down in Japan two days ago! Wee!

Now people have warned me about how hot it is but MY GOD it is hot!!!! In fact I spent most of yesterday feeling (and nearly being) really sick D:Yuck! Doesn't help that the AC was broken our first night. It was like sleeping in hell. @___@

So far so good! Trains re pretty easy to use and I've used a little of my Japanese. Managed to buy cold medicine because I'm a sickly lady.

Photos of the matsuri in Nagoya and so forth will come later!

Packing!

So yesterday marked 2 weeks until I fly out! Eep! So I thought I best start organising myself and getting packing stuff in my case!

Therefore I have spent most of today filling my case with things I know I won't use between now and 15th! This means my towels are all packed along with pretty much all of my toiletries! It is really scary how much space they take up... eeck!

The saviour comes in the form of vacuum bags!!! I plan to use these for all my clothes/ squishy items. I already did it with the towels and they shrunk to half the size! Yay! While this doesn't effect weight (duh) it does mean they take up less space. So more room for clothes/ shoes/ Pimm's! Yay!

I will slowly fill it with clothes over the next two weeks. By the last week I will be wearing my ugliest and oldest clothes and therefore will not leave the house!

As for advice on what to pack and what not to pack...

To pack:

  • Toothpaste! Apparently they don't have flouride in their toothpaste! Crazy!
  • Deodorant! You can get it, but it's harder to find and if you like a particular brand (like me!) then best bring a whole bunch with you!!!
  • Shoes! My feet aren't all that big, but they are pretty wide. In fact I can struggle sometimes to find comfy shoes here let alone in Japan! My feet are a size 6, which I think is the biggest or nearly the biggest they do in Japan. But just to be safe I'm going to pack a fair few pairs!
  • Jeans/ shorts/ trousers! Because I am highly doubting that my big bum and western hips/thighs will fit into bottoms in Japan! I know they have western shops in Japan, but I have no idea if they'll stock my size! Plus the western shops tend to be H&M and Zara and I have NEVER been able to fit in jeans from those shops!! I'm not that big (I wear a UK 12/14 on my bottom half) but Japanese ladies look pretty teeny tiny. Tops I'm not so bothered (I'm a 10/12)
  •  Chocolate! Haha. While I like some Japanese snacks, the chocolate I've tried isn't that amazing. Nothing compared to Cadbury's or Galaxy! So I'm taking a little supply to keep me happy!
I'm sure there are other things that are essential... but that is all I can think of at the moment!

Now it's on to buying currency and cancelling my car insurance...
